i think that in asian countries the Swine Flu did not spread rapidly compared to those countries that are located in colder climates. we should still be very thankful that the swine flu did not cause massive infections.

Hi Anna, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, Coca-Cola is one of the 'greener' soft drink companies out there, so it's really a no-win situation. My suggestions for buying greener soft drinks would be the following:

Buy larger containers like 2 L bottles, rather than single-serving containers, to minimize the amount of packaging per product.
Buy generic cola instead of the brand-name stuff so the money you save can be put toward more responsible products.
Reduce your soft drink consumption, and drink beverages such as tea, fair trade coffee... or perhaps just water.

But the main aim of the piece is to get you thinking. When you see a 'green' claim by a large company, look beneath the surface and consider whether the action is a truly green one, or merely an attempt to put a green face on a brown product.

A well-written piece, but doesn't give me the consumer any action to take, only leaves me dejected about how pathetic CCA is. I'd like this site to give me actionable options as well as educate me - eg recommend that (if we have to continue buying Coke) to buy it in the glass bottles that are now available (not that I'd do that anyway, as they're even more ridiculously expensive than normally packaged Coke), or recommend a soft drink manufacturer who does meet the responsibility criteria in your opinion. Something like tha would be more useful as it would give the consumer a concrete way to use their wallet to address the issue raised by the article.
